The grapes for this wine were harvested from 2 vineyards in northern Sonoma County and one in Rutherford, in the Napa Valley. The harvest date was between October 10, and October 27, with an average sugar of 27.4 degrees Brix, an final TA of .63mg/100ml and a pH of 3.44. The fermentation averaged seven days in small stainless tanks using M2 and Syrah yeast and pumped over for 20 minutes, 6 times a day. The wines were aged separately in new French and American oak barrels for 17 months, and then put together as a master blend. Bottled March 11, 2008. The color is opaque, with a purple edge that clings to the glass. The aromas are of boysenberries, black currants, and violets. Ripe, rich, creamy, and spicy, with flavors of casis, dark plum fruit, and blueberries and mocha. Rich, dense, and deeply concentrated on the palate. Tannins are firm and expansive.
