Meet John Eppler

I have been involved in the wine industry since 1974. My first job was with Neiman - Marcus Wine Cellar, Downtown, Dallas, TX. It was a great experience and a great place to start since I was exposed to some of the greatest wines from the greatest vintages in recent history.

When the accountants thought it was more profitable to sell epicurian delights instead of wine and closed it , I became a wine steward and later Sommelier in several of Dallas' fine restaurants. From there I resumed college and earned a degree in Fruit Culture and Chemistry from Texas A and M university with wine production my ultimate goal.

In 1986, I moved to Napa Valley to persue this dream. My first vintage later that year produced my first Zinfandel. I Started Zoom Vineyards and began producing Zins from Napa and Sonoma.
I have also worked at some of the best wineries, Robert Mondavi and Rosenblum Cellars the two that gave me the most exposure to fine wine quality production.

I began production of JRE Wines in 2001 and concentrate on Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Syrah.
